The Western Cape Department of Agriculture undertook a census of agri worker households in the Western Cape and completed a first and second cycle between 2014 and 2021. The first cycle was completed end of March 2017 and the second cycle in March 2021. Both cycles covered all District Municipalities and the Metropole. The provincial reports are available for both cycles in the links below. Additionally upon request reports for specific district, metropole and local municipalities can be made available.

The purpose of the survey is twofold:

• To develop a database for agri workers in the Western Cape;
• To compile a household profile of agri workers and their families’ needs in order for the province to respond.
