About Agri's Got Talent Competition:

Agri’s Got Talent is a singing competition and life skills programme for agri workers with a singing talent, within the fruit and wine industries and started in 2013.  The Agri’s Got Talent initiative gives workers in the fruit and wine industry a platform to showcase their musical talents/ gifts. The initiative includes voice and stage training, a singing competition and life skills workshop. It gives agricultural workers the chance to broaden their horizons and build new relationships, also between co-workers on farms. Apart from singing, the initiative gives participants the opportunity to develop various life skills which they can plough back into their communities. The initiative provides agri workers who have the ambition to fulfil their dreams and to expose them to other career avenues. The finalists from 2016 have been hailed as achievers in their farming communities and in their respective regions, whilst continuing with their singing mostly to provide additional income opportunities.

This initiative is a joint venture between representative organisations for the industries, i.e. HORTGRO, the Vinpro Foundation, the Citrus Growers’ Association and SATI. The initiative is an example of the multi-dimensional nature of agriculture and rural communities as a whole and the contribution that this sector can make to unlock the potential of this country.
