The Directorate: Technology Transfer plays a critical role in advancing the Programme: Research & Technology Development by providing specialised technological, creative, and strategic support. Our mandate is to strengthen research excellence, enhance innovation capacity, and solve complex technological challenges through integrated, forward-thinking solutions.

The Directorate delivers a comprehensive suite of services, including digital communication (web and media updates), publications, design and layout, and professional photo/videography. Beyond communication support, we provide advanced technology-driven solutions that span multiple domains—electronics, drone technology, sensors, building-integrated camera systems, environmental monitoring equipment, rovers, and 3D printing.

Our expertise also extends into Artificial Intelligence (AI), machine learning applications, automation, data processing, and predictive analytics to support research, operational decision-making, and modernisation of services. We actively explore and integrate emerging technologies to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and the scientific capabilities of the Department. In addition to supporting internal research and innovation initiatives, the Directorate provides technical opinions, consultancy, and solution design to other Programmes, provincial Departments, national government entities, and the wider public sector.

The Directorate further drives interdepartmental collaboration, both locally and internationally, ensuring continuous knowledge exchange, shared research outputs, and global alignment with cutting-edge technological practices. Through these collaborative networks, we promote innovation, strengthen institutional capacity, and contribute to the long-term advancement of agricultural research, technology adoption, and public service transformation.
