The Western Cape Department of Agriculture, together with the national Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries will host this year’s World Food Day event.

Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Senzeni Zokwana and Minister of Economic Opportunities in the Western Cape, Alan Winde, will both be attending the event which will take place on Tuesday 16 October, in Brandwacht near Mossel Bay.

World Food Day is held annually to raise issues around world hunger and food security. The theme for this year is “Our actions are our future. A zero hunger world by 2030 is possible.”

The symbolic “food mountain” which is built to celebrate the occasion each year, will be unveiled on the day. The food is then distributed to local residents and communities in need.

Members of the media are invited to attend.
