Serological testing is done for a wide range of organisms and diseases, which include the following:

Collection and sending of samples
All samples submitted must be clearly marked with an identification number (e.g. ear tag number or animal name), if such a number exists. The correct submission forms
must accompany samples and all relevant information
must be filled in. Serum samples should not be haemolysed, especially when haemagglutination or CFT testing is to be done.
Milk samples
Samples
must be collected in tubes and containers that are supplied by the laboratory. These tubes contain formalin as preservation fluid and no other preservation medium can be used. Arrange with the laboratory to collect tubes when needed.
