Home: TRD: Resource utilisation: AGRI-OUTLOOK: WIND ROSES FOR June 2011

Wind roses have been compiled from wind information collected at ARC-ISCW weather stations situated on various farms within the province. The relevant weather stations are located at Voorstekop (near Heidelberg), Langgewens (near Malmesbury), Oudtshoorn and Outeniqua (near George).

The approach is to compare this month's wind rose with last year's and the long term mean, accordingly three wind roses are presented for each of these weather stations.

Rainfall was concentrated more to the southern and eastern parts of the province as opposed to over the western parts as during the last few years. In the wind, this is also reflected by a weaker north westerly component and a somewhat stronger component from the south and west at most of the stations.
