Rainfall December 2011

Most of the rainfall (50mm+) occurred in the north eastern half of the Central Karoo. The south western side of the Central Karoo, most of the Cape Winelands and West Coast received a maximum of 10mm or less rain.


Rainfall for December 2011 compared with long-term mean

Above normal rainfall conditions were experienced in the north eastern side of the Central Karoo. The current drought stricken area between Touwsriver and Prince Albert remained dry due to the absence of good rains. The rest of the province received normal (West Coast) to below normal rains (Cape Winelands) with isolated patches of above normal rains (Bredasdorp to Montagu).
