Home: TRD: Resource utilisation: AGRI-OUTLOOK: WIND ROSES FOR July 2010

This section deals with wind roses which are compilations of wind information collected from various ARC-ISCW weather stations (WS) situated on various farms within the province.   The WS is placed at Voorstekop (near Heidelberg), Zandvliet (near Ashton), Langgewens (near Malmesbury), Oudtshoorn and Outeniqua (near George).

The approach is to compare this month’s wind rose with last year’s and the long term mean, accordingly three wind roses are presented for each WS.

The northwesterly component in the wind once again dominated as expected during winter, but was weaker than during 2009.  The southerly component was somewhat more present than during last year. These wind anomalies were also expected with the more favourable rainfall over the southern parts.
