During April 2009, the southwesterly component in the wind dominated, compared to April 2008 and the long-term average during which the southeasterly component dominated.
Januarieskraal
At this station, southerly winds dominate. A smaller northwesterly component is in agreement with less frontal activity than on average, resulting in below-normal rainfall during April 2009.
Tygerhoek
Zonal winds dominate at this station. However, unlike in April 2009 and the long-term average, the easterly component dominated rather than the westerly component.
Voorstekop
All three patterns are remarkably the same at this station, with southeasterlies and northwesterlies dominating.
