Temperature – October 2008
Maximum temperatures in October 2009 ranged between 18°C over the mountainous areas in the west and 30°C over some parts of the central Karoo.
Monthly mean minimum temperatures ranged between 13°C over the lower lying areas of the interior and the coastal parts and 6°C over the high lying areas.

Mean monthly minimum temperatures were generally higher than during October 2008
Mean monthly maximum temperatures in October this year were mostly lower than during October 2008 over the province.
Temperature – October 2009 compared with long-term
Average maximum temperatures were higher than the long-term mean over the eastern and northern parts of the province and lower than average over the southwestern parts.
Monthly average minimum temperatures were near normal over the interior and above normal over the southwestern coastal areas and adjacent interior.
