Temperature – August 2008
Maximum temperatures in August 2009 ranged between 14°C over the mountainous areas in the west and 24°C over some parts of the central Karoo.
Monthly mean minimum temperatures ranged between 10°C over the southwestern coastal areas and -3°C over the northeastern parts.
Temperature – August 2009 compared to August 2008
Mean monthly minimum temperatures were generally higher than during August 2008.
Mean monthly maximum temperatures in August this year were slightly lower than during August 2008 over the southwestern parts of the province and slightly higher over the central and eastern parts.
Temperature – August 2009 compared with long-term
Average maximum temperatures were higher than the long-term mean over the eastern parts of the province and lower than average over the western parts.
Monthly average minimum temperatures were lower than average over most of the interior and slightly higher than average over the southwestern parts of the province.
