Temperature – March 2009

Minimum temperatures in March 2009 ranged between 9 and 15°C with the lowest temperatures in the northeast and the Boland.

Monthly mean maximum temperatures ranged between 21 and 33°C with higher values recorded over the Central Karoo and lower values over the mountainous areas in the southwest.


Temperature – March 2009 compared to March 2008

Mean monthly minimum temperatures were generally slightly higher than in March 2009.

Mean monthly maximum temperatures in March were higher than in March 2009 over the eastern and especially the southeastern parts while lower in the west. 


Temperature – March 2009 compared with long-term

Minimum temperatures during March 2009 were higher than average over especially the southwestern parts and below average over most of the interior.

Monthly maximum temperatures for the Western Cape were above normal over most of the province and near normal over the extreme southwestern parts.
