Temperature – January 2008

Minimum temperatures in January 2008 for the Western Cape were mostly between 12°C and 18°C.

Monthly mean maximum temperatures for the Western Cape ranged between 18°C and 36°C, with most places over the West Coast and the Central Karoo recording temperatures in excess of 30°C. The other places recorded temperatures between 24°C and 30°C.


Temperature – January 2008 compared to January 2007

Mean monthly minimum temperatures in January 2008 for the Western Cape were mostly similar to the previous year’s temperatures for the entire province with the deviation ranging between -1°C and 1°C.

Mean monthly maximum temperatures in January 2008 were mostly lower than during the previous year with the exception of the West Coast and Cape Town where the temperatures were similar to the temperatures for the same time during the previous year.


Temperature – January 2008 compared with long-term

Minimum temperatures during January 2008 were near normal over most parts of the province but above normal in the southwest.

Monthly maximum temperatures for the Western Cape were near normal in the east and above normal in the west.
