Generally speaking, the westerly component in the wind was greater the during the previous year and also greater than the long-term average, explaining more rain over the winter rainfall areas and less over the summer rainfall areas than the average.

Winds during February 2007 were predominantly light south (36%), southeasterly (18%) and southwesterly (12%). These winds were more or less similar to the winds during February 2006 and the long-term average.

Prevailing winds for February 2007 were mostly from the south (48.9%).Winds experienced in February 2006 and the long-term average winds are also predominantly southerly.

Predominant winds for February 2007 were from the west (21.8%), east (20.9%) and southeast (16.1%). These winds were more or less similar to the long-term, but differ in direction from the previous year during which the wind was mostly from the east (61.7%).

Voorstekop

During February 2007, winds were light predominantly from the southeast (18.5%), west (13.3%) and the south (12.6%). The wind during February 2006 and the long-term average is light predominantly from the southeast to the south.
