Temperature – August 2007

Minimum temperatures in August 2007 for the coastal areas of the Western Cape were mostly between 6°C and 9°C, while the remainder of the province recorded temperatures ranging from 0°C to 6°C.

Mean monthly maximum temperatures for the Western Cape were mostly between 15°C and 21°C, with notable exceptions over Overberg recording temperatures below 15°C.


Temperature – August 2007 compared to August 2006

Mean monthly minimum temperatures in August 2007 for the West Coast, Cape Town, Overberg and most parts of the Boland district were mostly similar to the previous year. By contrast, the eastern parts of the Central Karoo and Eden recorded lower temperatures than during the previous year temperatures.

Mean monthly maximum temperatures in August 2007 over the southwestern parts were mostly similar to the previous year, while the Central Karoo, Eden and northern West Coast recorded higher temperatures.


Temperature – August 2007 compared with long-term

Minimum temperatures during August 2007 were below normal except for the southwestern parts. The maximum- and minimum temperature deviations suggest anomalously high cloud cover over the southwestern parts of the province.

The province recorded mostly near normal temperatures with some negative deviations mostly towards the southwest.
