Temperature – May 2007
Minimum temperatures in May 2007 over most areas in the Western Cape ranged between 6°C and 12°C. In contrast, some places over the Central Karoo district recorded relatively lower temperatures between 0°C and 6°C.
Average monthly maximum temperatures for the Western Cape mostly ranged from 21°C to 24°C. The exceptions are evident over the northern parts of the West Coast with temperatures higher than 24°C and some parts of the Boland, Overberg and northeastern Central Karoo with temperatures below 21°C.
Temperature – May 2007 compared to May 2006
Mean monthly minimum temperatures for May 2007 for entire Western Cape are mostly similar to the previous year, with the deviations ranging from -1°C to 1°C.
The entire province recorded higher maximum temperatures than in the previous year with the deviations from 0°C to 6°C.
Temperature – May 2007 compared with long-term
Minimum temperatures during May 2007 were below normal to near normal for the Central Karoo, Eden and most parts of the West Coast. Conversely, the Boland, Overberg, southern West Coast and Cape Town recorded near normal to above normal temperatures.
Maximum temperatures during May 2007 were above normal for the entire province.
