NDVI for February 2007
21 – 28 February 2007 compared with 21 – 31 February 2006
The NDVI for the 21 - 28 February 2007 is higher than in the previous year (2006) over the western parts of the province and lower over the eastern parts. This is a reflection of the contrasting rainfall situations in terms of a higher frequency of frontal activity over the winter rainfall area and less summer rain bearing systems over the central parts of South Africa this year.

21 – 28 February 2007 compared with the long-term mean
Compared with the long-term mean, the NDVI is higher than average over the winter rainfall areas and lower over the eastern parts. This is the result of a higher than average amount of cold fronts that have impacted on the area and less rain over the summer rainfall area. .
