A survey to collect information on the owned avian population.
There is currently an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in the Western Cape. Avian influenza is a notifiable animal disease under the Animal Disease Act 35 of 1984 (ADA).
Veterinary Services needs to collect data to assess where the risk is greatest and to be able to advise clients appropriately.
To reduce the risk of spreading the disease we are requesting owners and managers of birds within 30km of outbreaks to assist us in collecting information on properties by filling in this short survey instead of us going door to door.
It should not take more than 5 minutes to complete and although we need to know who you are, we will not share this information with the public or anyone not authorised under the ADA.
Properties within 3 km of an infected site, from which no response is received, will be visited by an Animal Health Technician.
