No rainfall was recorded at the Theewaterskloof Dam during the last week. Rainfall recorded during the last week at the Voelvlei, Steenbras, and Wemmershoek Dams was 11, 15 and 18 mm respectively. The gross system storage increased from 827 to 846 million m3 (94.1%), bringing the total increase since the 1st May to 278 million m3. Although the system is 94.1% full, the chance of all the dams filling this winter has dropped from 75% to about 50% due to the dry period in July and August.
According to the South African Weather Service (SAWS) there is a slight chance of drizzle on Tuesday and Wednesday (31st August and 1st September) in Cape Town, Grabouw and Paarl. No rainfall is predicted for other areas. At present, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute forecasts showers from Monday of next week.
