SRM: Landcare: MANAGEMENT OF LAND USE

The sub-division and rezoning of agricultural land is based on the five principles of sustainable agriculture, namely:

  1. Social acceptability,
  2. Economic viability,
  3. Ecological feasibility,
  4. Reasonable production, and
  5. Sound security.

A healthy balance between these principles is necessary when evaluating a proposal. This evaluation process will be assisted by the areawide projects in that it will pro-actively plan future land use.
