Minister Cobus Dowry, Western Cape Minister of Agriculture recently addressed about 150 Grade 6 learners from various schools in the Oudtshoorn district on the farm Minwater of Mr Louis Jordaan. This camp was offered by the Department of Agriculture as part of the Junior Landcare Programme. The aim of this programme is to make learners aware of the how unique their specific environment is, and to encourage them to become involved in the preservation of all resources.
Learners were introduced to the biodiversity of the plants in the vicinity as well as their medicinal value and also to various animals in the environment.
