Farmer Support and Development: CASP

CASP is the acronym for the Comprehensive Agricultural Support Programme (CASP) for Land Agrarian Reform and Food Security initiatives.

LATE OR FAXED APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

Application forms:

Application forms should be posted or hand delivered to the Department of Agriculture to one of the district or local offices. Application forms are available at the Department of Agriculture’s offices, or can be downloaded below.

Application forms must be sealed in a clearly addressed envelope. It should be addressed to the relevant District Manager - see list below. Your local agriculture office can also be contacted via the District Office for assistance with the completion of the forms. Download all parts of the application.


Selection criteria for CASP allocation:

  1. It must be a land reform initiative.
  2. It must contribute to food security.
  3. It must have a minimum lease agreement of 5 years, at the date of application, as a food security project.
  4. It must have a minimum lease agreement of 9 years and 11 months, at the date of application, as a commercial project.
  5. Priority will be given to projects that benefit women, youth and disabled.
  6. The project must have the potential to create jobs.
  7. It must have the potential to become economically viable and sustainable.
  8. The application must show that the grant will have a significant positive impact on the viability of the initiative.
  9. Previous receipt of government funding or support will be considered.

All sections of the application must be fully completed. The following documentation and information must be provided as part of the application to avoid disqualification:

  1. Certified copies of all beneficiaries’ IDs.
  2. Tax clearance certificate for registered entities.
  3. Information on the availability of water on the site.
  4. A copy of the lease agreement signed by the owner of the land.
  5. A projected income and expenditure (cost)
  6. A letter of commitment from commercial partners in Farm Worker Equity Schemes detailing their financial capability to participate.
  7. A signed copy of the group’s constitution.
