Floris Huysamer is 48 years old and married with two children.

He lives in a little rural town called Malmesbury, 70km north of Cape Town. This town is the namesake of a town in the United Kingdom.

Floris holds a B-degree in Accounting and Economics (obtained extramurally) as well as an Honours degree in Business and Administration.

He has 20 years extensive and varied experience in the financial and strategic fields of agriculture.

First he worked for nine years on the commercial side of agriculture when he was accountant and financial manager at two agricultural Co-operatives in the Western Cape.

After that he was financial manager and part of the strategic team for four years at one of the Institutes of the Agricultural Research Council in Stellenbosch, close to Cape Town.

Since January 2001 he is employed at the Western Cape: Department of Agriculture where he is the head of Finance and, as senior manager, part of the Department’s strategic team.

Therefore, but for farming itself, he has experience of agriculture in the Western Cape from an agri-business perspective, research perspective and from the public service point of view.
